Fallsview crowns three winners in Inaugural Poker Classic
Three-tournament format produces 7-days of hold’em excitement
Niagara Falls, ON − Fallsview Casino Resort hosted its first annual Fallsview Poker Classic from January 8 − 14, 2010, with resounding success.
The 7-day tournament hosted a grand total of 731 players, consisted of three Main Events with buy-ins of $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 and had a combined prize purse of over $1.6 million.
Winning the $1,000 event was Toronto’s Khai Ngo who claimed 1st place and a prize of $81,888. The $2,500 event was won by Canadian professional poker player Gavin Smith from Guelph, Ontario. His purse of $188,743 came after a grueling 19-hour day of play. The final event was won by 22-year old Simon Charette of Pickering, Ontario, who took home the grand prize of $270,630.
"We are very pleased for each of the winners," said John Stamatakos, Executive Director of Table Games, Fallsview Casino Resort. "There was a lot of excitement surrounding this tournament, and we are looking forward to next year’s event."
